Among other things what really ‘spoke to me’ about the women’s march was its international dimensions. As I have lived much of my earlier life in the Middle East and Asia it was especially marvelous to see this new and exuberant generation of young women from various parts of the globe come forward – out from under the veil, or bound feet, or whatever ‘kept them in their place’ through much of history.
